The Amazing World of Gumball

Hey guys! Some things are happening in the Amazing World of Gumball, check out what Cartoon Network sent us:

Cartoon Network would like to invite families all over South Africa to Join Gumball, Banana Joe and the rest of the gang from The Amazing World of Gumball for guaranteed laughs on Sunday, 1 April 2012 from 7am to 12.10pm on DSTV channel 301. We will be showcasing all your favourite episodes from the show for our special “Normal just got a bit weird – April Fool’s day Marathon”, which is sure to split your sides on this very fun day.

To make things even more fun, Cartoon Network will be launching their brand spanking new Character Creator game and competition on the same day to keep the fun alive. Kids are invited to visit www.cartoonnetworkafrica.com from April 1st to create Gumball’s new neighbour. The website will provide fans with a user friendly, interactive character creator platform where they can choose from a wide range of elements including several body parts and background images to create Gumball’s perfect neighbour. Once they have created their character, users can register for the competition and upload their image to stand a chance to win the grand prize of a Wii console and 20 others will win fantastic Gumball goodie bags. The competition will be judged by Cartoon Network’s own creative team and winners will be announced on 7 May 2012.

The show which already has a ratings success in the US as the number one show for kids in its time slot, has already won several awards. Some of these include Best Television Production at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival; ‘Best Animated Series (Kids)’ in the Programming Awards, ‘Best Animation Achievement’ in the Creative Talent Awards and ‘Favourite Kids’ Program’ in the Viewers’ Choice Awards at the Kids Screen awards. More recently the show got awarded for the Best Children's Series and Best Kids' Show voted for by the public at the British Animation Awards.

The Amazing World of Gumball is Cartoon Network’s first UK produced full-length animation series created by Ben Bocquelet and BAFTA award-winner Mic Graves as series’ director. The comedy-animation uses a unique combination of 2D and 3D animation with live-action backgrounds.

It follows the hilarious misadventures of the Wattersons, a regular family in the irregular town of Elmore. Like most families, life for the Wattersons is pretty chaotic, Richard is a stay-at-home Dad and serial gamer who will do anything apart from work, whilst Nicole is a stressed out hard-working mum with a short fuse. Anais is the smartest of the bunch, a 4 year old genius who no one listens to, whilst Darwin is well…the pet goldfish who sprouted legs and became a member of the family. At the centre of it all there's Gumball, an energetic 12-year old who will try anything once, even living naked in the woods. Gumball’s incurable optimism makes up for his charming stupidity which sees endless dumb schemes spectacularly backfire.

Elmore, the ‘average’ American small town, features a stellar cast of funny and unique characters including; Gumball and Darwin’s classmates Tina, the T Rex who is a bit of a school bully; Carrie the Emo dressing depressed ghost, and Banana Joe the class goon who laughs at everyone and likes peeling himself; their teachers Miss Simian whose been teaching second graders for 300,000 years and Principal Brown a big furry slug in love with Miss Simian.

Don’t miss out on sharing this jam packed day filled with some of the best laughs you will ever experience with your family. Get in the middle of the fast paced action and adventure that Gumball and Darwin gets up to...it will be your best April fool’s day yet!

The Amazing World of Gumball Season 1 will re-run on Cartoon Network from April 2nd, Monday – Friday at 17:15 and Saturday – Sunday at 16:50.

Popping in at the Ben10 movie

The premiere of Ben 10: Destroy All Aliens took place at The Zone in Rosebank on Saturday 10 March. Andy and Julia were there to absorb the magic of this exclusive green carpet event. Supernova subscriber Lisa Kruger, her older brother Ruan and their father Paul also joined in on the day's festivities.

Kids having fun while watching Ben 10 games
Each guest was treated to a Ben 10 T-shirt and goodie bag, as well as a kiddie combo including a soft drink, popcorn and candy. Guests were also treated to Ben 10 entertainment before the movie, such as photographs with Ben 10 and Four Arms, balloon sculpting, face painting, a photo booth, quizzes, games and much more. A favourite attraction was a pool filled with green sludge where blindfolded kids had to take out as many orange balls among white balls as possible to win a cool Ben 10 prize. Lisa was one of the lucky winners!
