RELEASE
An
awesome event for curious kids!
Sci-Bono
Discovery Centre is celebrating summer this school holiday as we
present another exciting Holiday Programme between 21 and 29
September 2013.
The
theme for the coming holiday programme is Wonderous Water and we
celebrate the blue gold that is one of the most precious and scarce
resources on the planet. Although less than 1% of all water on the
planet is fresh, it is an absolute necessity to sustain all life.
Join us as we take you on a journey to discover more about our liquid
planet.
The
exciting programme is packed with interactive science experiments
that will leave your child in awe! Starting every day at 10:00,
kids can get their hands wet as they build their own steam boat and
learn how steam can be used as a source of energy. The power of water
is not only limited to steam boats. Kids can also build water rockets
and see who shoots their rocket the highest. Hydrogen used in
fuel cells can be used as a major source of clean energy in future.
You will learn what fuel cell technology is, how it works, and how it
may develop in the future and then produce hydrogen from water to run
a small hydrogen fuel cell car. This experiment can get noisy!
Discover
why some objects sink while others float, during the amazing Aqua
Spectacle Science Show that takes place every day at 13:00. The science
of water will be explored further while we also learn more about
bubbles, what holds them together and why insects can walk on water.
If you get bored of water, there are over 350 interactive science
exhibits in the centre that will keep young and old entertained for
hours.
Sci-Bono
Discovery Centre is open Monday
to Friday between 09:00 and 17:00, and
Saturday and Sunday between 09:30 to 16:30.
Entry fees are R10 a child and R20 an adult.
Pensioners
and children under 6 are free. Some of the workshops have a minimal
entrance fee, while others are free and are offered on a first come
first serve basis. Hurry up to secure your spot as these shows are
very popular!
